Once the decision to go with a non-profit structure was decided the first thing I found myself asking is, “how the heck do you create a non-profit organization?” The whole 501(c)3 process is a bit overwhelming to say the least.
Enter Mary Birdlebough – a very bright attorney at Baker Botts L.L.P. – a large, prestigeous firm. Mary goes to Watermark and is highly involved in some of the things we’re doing in Africa. She has a huge heart for the women in Africa and was recommended to me by another attorney from Watermark.
We had the opportunity to sit down this morning at Starbucks. I shared with her the Hupomeno concept and the path that brought me thus far. She was very gracious and excited about the idea. She has agreed to hold my hand through the non-profit incorporation process. This is a HUGE blessing and takes a bit of stress off my shoulders.
So very thankful for Mary!
