Well…I guess it’s official. I just shipped off a counter-signed employment agreement to be Opportunity International’s Chief Operating Officer in Tanzania, Africa. Initial term is 3 years. Holy cow…did I just type that?
Next steps are finalizing & shipping to Africa the documents needed for my work permit. Once we get a sense for how long that process is going to take then we will be able to drill down on a depature date. Right now we’re looking at mid-March…but we’ll see how the WP process goes.
I’m about to finish Just Courage by Gary Haugen. A couple of his paragraphs caught my attention yesterday that I offer as food for thought:
“If you’re wrestling with some sort of decision, reflect for a moment and ask yourself, Am I being brave or am I being safe? In the end, it depends on whether we think God can be trusted.” Page 106
and
“We fret over what might happen to our stuff, our reputation, our standing, our children, our ideology and our investments, and in the process we forget that we have these things so we can live fully for Christ. All the things we value were never meant to be safeguarded. They were meant to be put at risk and spent, for we are in a life-and-death battle (Ephesians 6:10-13)” Page 107

Congratulations!!!! We’ll miss you guys.
Man, I’m so excited for you guys. Thanks for keeping this website up to date. It makes it easier for me to keep and eye on my old friend and his amazing family. Know that we’ll be praying for you guys.
Missy, this is wonderful. I am so happy for you all, I know you will adjust well. I remember when Brandi and Chris and the kids went. Seems like yesterday! What a wonderful life for Abigail to have lived on 3 different continents. Not many of us can say that!
Thanks for sending me the link to the blog. It will be an honor to stand in the gap and cover y’all in prayer.
Beth
