Dearest Missy,
Here are 10 things I re-learned from 16 nights away from you:
- You are a need, not a want. You are the relational air that I breathe. Ten years of marriage has only just begun to quench my thirst & satiate my hunger for you.
- You have my heart – wholly & unashamedly. I am fully yours – for better or worse.
- You are the hands and feet of Jesus to me. Though we have been thousands of miles apart you have served me, loved me & provided for me.
- You are my very, very best friend. I am surrounded by scores of people but I am lonely without you.
- You are stunningly beautiful & exquisite in form – in any country, in any culture, in any context.
- You are a mother with no equal. You are the only woman I want to shepherd our four gifts from the Lord.
- Your scent is sweeter than the thousand blooming acacia trees that surrounded me in Malawi.
- Your laughter lights up my soul. I’ve heard fifty jokes, a hundred witty sayings and a thousand laughs but yours is altogether better.
- Your smile is radiant. It lifts my spirit. It releases my stress. It untangles my angst.
- Your touch and your body are….well, how about I save this one just for you!
My love, this list is inadequate to be sure. How can I truly describe your place in my life? And to be honest even if I could plumb the depths of my love and affection for you the reality is that I lack the eloquence and verbal depth to do so.
I can’t wait to see you! I leave Amsterdam in about 4 hours.
Yours always -
David

David – I am just returning from maternity leave and saw your news on Africa, so came to the web site and I just have to tell you how touched I was to read the thoughts you sent to your wife. I had to tell friends about it. It is so rare these days to see such devotion and love so well expressed and openly communicated. it just really touched me and is great to see. I hope you and your family are all doing wonderfully.
Y’all are amazing! So sweet~
. . . and David, This is why I allowed you to marry my precious daughter! Thank you for openly loving her and caring for her the way you do. My prayers will constantly be with you both as you journey on life’s road together, walking where God has asked you to go. I love you all so much my heart aches!
And this is why I allowed you to marry my friend David!
Glad all went well, and hope you are resting at home, snuggled up next to Missy now. So excited about what the next chapter holds for all of you. I love you guys so much!
I don’t know honey, that was pretty dang eloquent! I love you so much and am so incredibly thankful that you are my husband. You are an amazing leader, a faithful friend, and fantastic daddy. I wouldn’t want to be with anyone else. Thanks for being patient with me and desiring Christ above all else. You are amazing and I can’t wait for you to be home!
