Okay so at this point nearly everyone knows that we’re not moving to Africa (at least not right now – the desire is still there). I still want to blog so that left me with three obvious options:
- Continue to blog via the www.leventhalsinafrica.com domain. I discounted this option because….well, it just seemed silly.
- Continue to blog at www.theleventhals.com. I discounted this option because if I’m honest the iWeb feature on Missy’s Mac is kind of a pain. You have to be on the Mac to blog & since it’s Missy’s computer that means it’s not always available. It’s also not a web-based application that will allow you to post from any computer (or maybe it is and I just haven’t figured out how). Truthfully – I’d like to find a way to export that whole thing into a WordPress account and let Missy manage that one – I’ve looked at doing it but it’s above my pay grade….anyone got skills in that area?
- Set up a new blog with WordPress. This seemed to be the best option so I went out to try and purchase davidleventhal.COM only to find that it was already taken. I fired off an email to the other David Leventhal & he very kindly informed me that he was not interested in selling me the domain…bummer. Not to be discouraged though because www.davidleventhal.ORG was available and so for $8 bucks a year I snagged it.
As I was setting this blog up I realized that there is good information on the theleventhalsinafrica.com blog – stuff about how we processed the whole Africa move, various posts about things the Lord has been teaching me, good photos of Africa, the kids, etc…. That’s information i didn’t want to lose. So – I’ve exported the XML file from theleventhalsinafrica.com and have imported it into davidleventhal.org. It didn’t let me import the pictures at first. But because WordPress is so stinkin’ awesome I sent them an email and they took care of it within a couple of hours! I’ve also set theleventhalsinafrica.com to automatically forward to davidleventhal.org.
