Earlier this month Missy & I had the chance to escape (from Dallas, our kids & “real life”) to Nashville for a live Orphan Sunday event that Hope for Orphans (the organization I work for) co-sponsored. The event, put on with our friends at Show Hope & Focus on the Family was amazing with inspiring messages from Dennis Rainey (President of FamilyLife), Jim Daly (President of Focus on the Family) & encouraging music from Steven Curtis Chapman & Geoff Moore. The event was broadcast live via a streaming webcast & the Gospel Music Channel is rebroadcasting the event on demand at their website. You should take some time to watch it – it was awesome. You can find it by going HERE.
Anyway – while we were in Nashville we got to spend some time with our good friends Scott & Amelia Moore. They are in the middle of working on a really cool documentary called Athentikos where they are documenting the stories of people who are giving their lives away in Guatemala to help the least, the last and the lost. Very cool project. In addition to being a rock star wife, mom & Athentikos Associate Producer, Amelia is an amazing photographer – you can check out her work at http://www.ameliajmoore.com. The Saturday we were in Nashville treated us with a photo shoot. Here are some of the photos she took.
In addition to Amelia’s gift Missy & I were able to:
- Have lots of REAL conversation
- Enjoy meals without having to play referee, clean up spilled drinks or yell to be heard
- Sit in on a listening party for Steven Curtis Chapman’s new album Beauty Will Rise – which is a powerful album that is so worth sitting down and, at one time, listening to from first song to last song.
- Sleep past 6 a.m.
- Attend Show Hope’s Annual Banquet
- Get a sneak peek of The Blind Side Movie – which was amazing and you should totally go see when it comes out on 11/20/09!
- Sit on the patio at Starbucks, enjoying a beautiful morning & my hot wife
- Spend some quality time with others on the Hope for Orphans team
It was definitely a weekend to remember!
