From my wife’s blog:
For the past week I’ve been diligently checking the mailbox….looking for an envelope from US Department of Homeland Security. Something…anything to say we have a date. Well, the day finally came. Today as I pulled the mail from the mailbox, hoping, but not expecting, I saw the return address and immediately started jumping up and down! Wooo HOOO!!! Caroline kept saying…WHAT? WHAT?? WHAT IS IT MAMA??? I started to explain to her as I opened the envelope and then I just started screaming! Our date is set for NEXT FRIDAY!!!!! I’ve never heard of appointment dates being that soon after the invite was received! With Abigail’s adoption we had to wait a full month from invite to appointment date. Holy Cow! I’m so excited!
Poor Caroline though. In the midst of my excitement she couldn’t understand what was going on and said “We’re getting JOSHUA NEXT FRIDAY!” She was disappointed when I explained that this is just one step in the process, but still excited we are one step closer.
Oh my gosh! I could still scream! Next Friday! Wow! Now I need to look into the processing time from fingerprint to I-797C. Once we get our I-797C we have to get our documents sealed, send to CCAI for review and translation and then off they go to China! We’re getting there buddy!
For those of you out there who want to compare dates, here you go:
- I 800A sent March 18, 2010
- arrived in office March 19
- Notice of Receipt dated March 25th
- Appointment notice date April 9
- Appointment notice arrived in our mailbox April 14
- Finger print appointment set for April 23

That is great guys!! Every step that brings us one moment closer to our bundles of joy is so exciting!
